Edith Elizabeth Severt Gordon

Edith Elizabeth Severt Gordon, of Salem , died Thursday evening, November 2, 2006. Born in Konnarock , Va. , she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Laura Reedy Severt. She was predeceased by her husband of 41 years, Frank Gordon and was retired from Tom’s Foods in Salem . Survivors incude two daughters, Betty Jo Miller and husband, Leon of Salem, and Linda Bailey and companion, Roy Jarrett of Salem; three grandchildren, Angela Ewing and husband, Kevin of Salem, Jerry Bailey, Jr. and wife, Amy of Roanoke County and Gina Godfrey and fiancé, Mike Ringham of Danville, In.; three great-grandchildren, Joshua Harris and Matthew Ewing of Salem and Caitlin Bailey of Roanoke County; and a special cat, Buttons. The family would like to thank the following special people for their excellent care, support and compassion: Dr. Matt Matthew, the Fresenius Dialysis staff at Friendship Manor, the staff of Friendship Manor, especially Chris Williams, Carla Lewis, Kristy Waldron, T. J. Hosey, Kathy Johnson, and Nancy Brenem. The family will receive friends at the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem on Sunday, November 5, 2006 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Graveside services will be conducted on Monday, November 6, 2006, at 2 p.m. at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Roanoke with Roy Jarrett officiating. While flowers are appreciated, memorials may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, 3015 Peters Creek Rd. , N.W. , Roanoke , Va. , 24019 , or to the Salem Rescue Squad, P. O. Box 1754 , Salem , Va. , 24153 .
