Marilyn Kroll Maguire, 81, of Roanoke , passed away on Friday, October 28, 2005 . She was born in Albany , NY and throughout her life lived in Syracuse , NY , Daytona Beach , FL , and most recently in Roanoke , VA. She was a very active member of St. Elizabeth’s Episcopal Church and enjoyed volunteering her services there as well as at Lewis-Gale Medical Center . She was preceded in death by her parents, Gustave J. Kroll, Jr. and Mary Kroll; husband, Howard S. Maguire, Jr.; and brother, Gustave J. Kroll, III. Her surviving family includes her children, Don Maguire and wife, Bonnie, Dick Maguire and wife, Nancy, Jim Maguire and wife, Alice, Bev Surrette and husband, Jack, Bill Maguire and wife, Wendy, and Jan Tyree and husband Toby; 12 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and in-laws, Barbara and Ollie Palmer. The family will receive friends on Monday, October 31, 2005 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem . A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 1, 2005 at 11 a.m. at the St. Elizabeth’s Episcopal Church in Roanoke with Rev. Richard Fife officiating. Inurnment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park in Salem . In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Lung Association of Virginia – Southwest Area at 3512 Brambleton Avenue – Suite 3 in Roanoke , VA 24018 .
