Donald Wray Strickler, 56, of
Salem
died Sunday, September 18, 2005 at the Salem Health and
Rehabilitation
Center
.
He was born July 25, 1949 in
Staunton
,
VA
a son of the late Marshall W. and Martha Rose Brookman Strickler.
Mr. Strickler was a Structural Engineer for Charles E. Smith Company.
Don was a very giving person who never met a stranger and loved life
to the fullest. He always
believed he would hit the lottery and now he has because he has gone to the
most beautiful place there could be.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia Carol Emerson
Strickler; a daughter, Tammy Renea Bryant; and a son, James Arlie Brooks.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother,
Sonny Strickler.
A funeral service will be conducted at 3:30 pm
Wednesday, September 21, 2005 from the chapel of John M. Oakey and Son,
Salem
with Pastor Myron Powell officiating. The
family will receive friends Wednesday afternoon from 2 to 3:30 pm at the
funeral home. At the
request of Don his body will be cremated following the service.
